Piece of velvet

Red, cut and uncut, velvet with a semi-conventional floral design surrounded by baroque ornament. The ground of cream white silk was originally woven with metal threads which are now almost entirely worn off. Narrow pieces of tarnished silver and gold gimp sewed on two sides. Much worn.
