Fragment of tapestry

Fragment. Very fragmentary ornament, applied to undyed linen tabby-woven ground. Design originally showed white spades (linen) powdered on a dark red (wool) ground. Linen warps and pattern wefts remain in large part; red wool almost completely rotted out. Ground stained; holes.
