Very much worn so that the close, heavy hemp warp appears to form the ground. Design of pairs of lions affronted within circles enclosed in hexagons, is woven with gold thread (gilded silver on skin, wound on linen). Worn so that thread appears to be silver.

1926, Adolfo Loewi, Venice; 1926, sold by Loewi to the MFA for $2070.43 [see note 1]. (Accession Date: December 2, 1926) NOTES: [1] Seven textiles were acquired from Loewi for this amount (MFA accession nos. 26.290-26.296).
