Mother of pearl fan with carved geometric, floral and foliate patterns on either end. Fan opens up in accordian fashion with carved figures in mother of pearl at bottom and hand-painted figures wearing Baroque fashions seated at top on paper leaf.

1892, probably purchased in Paris by Flora Kelly Van Sciver; by inheritance to Ruth Van Sciver Ketcham Lauer; March 10, 2005, inherited by Barbara Ketcham Wheaton, Lexington, MA; 2012, gift of Wheaton to the MFA. (Accession Date: February 27, 2013)
