Woman's imperial court surcoat (bufu) probably worn by a high ranking consort of the emperor. Tapestry woven with silk and gold-metallic yarn. Dark navy ground patterned with eight roundels enclosing five-clawed dragons. Purple brocade edging to sleeves. Buttoned in front with short sleeves.
