Sample of cotton batik with design of Neutral orange ground on which are diagonal bands ornamented with groups of ovals, alternating with bands of irregular forms, printed with light neutral orange and a little blue and black.

Provenance

Purchased through Dr.Ananda K. Coomaraswamy for the MFA from the private collection of the Javanese prince Ario Kusumodiningrat, an elder brother of the then reigning sultan in Surakarta (Solo); April 7, 1921
