Sample of cotton batik with design of dark blue ground on which are diagonal bands of irregular ornament some of which resemble flowers, printed with neutral orange and light neutral orange.

Purchased through Dr. Ananda K. Coomaraswamy for the MFA from the private collection of the Javanese prince Ario Kusumodiningrat, an elder brother of the then reigning sultan in Surakarta (Solo); April 7, 1921
