Marked on back of handle: "I T" in rectangle with shaped ends.

Provenance

Engraved initials are those of an Elizabeth Gardner. Three generations of John Gardners married wives named Elizabeth: Elizabeth Weld (b. 1681; Elizabeth Putnam (1700-1764), and Elizabeth Pickering (1737-1823). By descent in the family to the donor.
