Variety 1 with the breast of Liberty exposed. Obv: Figure of Liberty with shield and olive branch standing between pedestals on which are 13 stars, IN GOD WE TRUST with LIBERTY above, date below. Rev: Flying eagle, 13 stars, E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR.


Collected by Sidney A. Wien (1902-1962), Atlanta, Georgia, between the mid-1940's and 1962; by descent to his daughter, Claire W. Morse, in 1962; to the MFA in November 2004, gift of Claire W. and Richard P. Morse.
