Squat marl jar and disc lid

This globular jar is fashioned of a buff-colored marl clay. It has a rounded base, a very short neck, and a rolled rim. It also has a disc-shaped lid, possibly of a different ware type (or perhaps just differently fired).

Provenance

From Kerma, Cemetery S, grave 1626. 1914: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan. (Accession date: July 18, 2006)
