Small red polished quat shouldered jar

This squat jar has sharp, low-set shoulders, a rounded base, a very short neck, and an everted rim. The exterior has been treated with a red wash that has been well polished.

From Kerma, Cemetery S, Tumulus III, Hall A. 1913: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan. (Accession date: July 24, 2006)
