Slender ovoid jar with rim applique

This slender ovoid (nearly bag-shaped) jar is fashioned of a buff-colored marl clay. It has a rounded base, graduall neck, and outwardly pulled rim. The exterior edge of the rim has been decorated with small, irregular pressed "dot" appliques of the same clay fabric.

From Kerma, Cemetery S, grave . 1914: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan. (Accession date: July 11, 2006)
