    Description

    Pair of brocade shoes. White silk taffeta upper with brocading yarns of white silk in undulating vine and polychrome silk floral sprays (matches bodice and overskirt), latchets cross over square tongue (no buckle), white silk binding along top, over backseam. Pointed toe. Louis heel covered like upper, top piece. Leather sole and insole with row of stitching where heel breast meets sole. White cotton lining, white leather at lappets. Condition: poor; silk upper much deteriorated with some repair stitching.

    Description

    Red and blue Shanghai style (multi-level heels) shoe with a silk satin vamp embroidered with yellow, purple, green and blue silk and gold metallic threads to create a floral motif. Rows of purple, green and yellow trimming along the top-line. Just below is a black ribbon with white ovals filled in with purple (discontinuous supplementary wefts). White cotton plain weave extends up from the back of the shoe with a purple silk thread forming straps on either side of the shoe. Heel has white, blue, green and purple abstract patterning (discontinuous supplementary wefts). Sole of shoe is blue and red silk plain weave. Insole is white cotton plain weave.
