Redware straight sided bowl with potmark

Start collecting

Large straight sided redware bowl with a potmark. It has a polished dark red interior. It is blackened with soot from firing. The base is flat, and the rim is plain. The rim is cracked in 2 places. There is a large potmark in the shape of an inverted globular flask or "Hr" sign.

Provenance

From Mesaid tomb 19, no. 1 [M/19/1]. 1910: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt.
