With François Renaud, Boucher's mat maker, blind stamp on mount (Lugt 1042); possibly in the artist's possession and in his estate sale, February, 18, 1771, and following days, part of lot 389; possibly J-B-P. Le Brun sale, December 23, 1771, and following days, lot 10; to Chariot ; [probably A. Greverath, Hôtel des Ventes, Paris, 7 April 1856, lot no. 62]; [M. Knoedler and Co.]; Wildenstein and Co., New York; from whom purchased by Forsyth Wickes (1876-1964, New York, Paris, Rhode Island), 1946; his bequest to MFA, 1965.
