Inscription

Recto in pen, vertically along left edge: "Hogde vier ellen ende half"; lower center, "brede gelijck dese draet" (height four and a half ells; width the same as this shread); on verso, "dit is het pastuchen" (?). Transcription and translation by Julius Held in Rubens Selected Drawings (1959), p. 108. Infrared images of all inscriptions appear in conservation record of October 2004.
