Probably either Alexandre Lethière, Paris, until 1827, or his father Guillaume Guillon-Lethière (1760-1832), Director of French Academy, Rome (1807-1815) until 1832; Dr. Charles Lethière (1816-1889), son of Alexandre Lethière, Paris, until 1889; Mme Clémence Lethière, his widow, until 1901; unknown collector; purchased from that collector in 1913 by Carlos de Bestegui; purchased from the Wildenstein Gallery, February 1926
