On verso in ink: Sketch on the Mississippi River, looking down the stream, from Horsetail Island, about 15 miles below St. Lewis./ The "Convoy," (1st class steamer), aground near the wharf boat- the "Tobacco Plant" (3e class steamer) in the foreground, unloading in order to pass the bar-/ 15' oct. 1846.
