ROMAE MDXLVI Translation: Extending the memory of antiquity, we have portrayed the sepulcher of Lucius Septimius Severus Caesar, which by conjecture and the inscription of the Septizonium was sought in the Appian Way—nearly destroyed by the injuries of time, the remaining parts having been either damaged or fallen into ruin through the neglect of the greater passage of time
