Portraits: Every Picture Tells a Story

When an artist creates a portrait of someone, he or she thinks very carefully about its composition: the subject's pose, his or her clothing, the objects they include, and the setting are all very thoughtfully chosen. Sometimes the subject has a say in it, sometimes not, but put all together, it all reveals quite a lot about the person, his or her culture, and what is important to the sitter, the artist, or both.
