Probably passed from the sitters, Daniel Otto Kunhardt (b. 1721 - d. 1792) and Engel Geffken Kunhardt (b. 1742 - d. 1814), by descent through the family to George Kunhardt, Sr. (b. 1861), North Andover, MA [see note 1]; by inheritance to his son, George Edward Kunhardt, Jr. (b. 1898 - d. 1977), Francestown, NH; 1977, by inheritance to his wife, Priscilla Kunhardt, Francestown; 2008, gift of Mrs. Kunhardt to the MFA. (Accession Date: January 21, 2009) NOTES: [1] MFA accession numbers 2008.1651 and 2008.1652, portraits of Daniel Otto Kunhardt and his wife Engel Geffken Kunhardt, are a pair.
