Goals:

Look at a variety of non-objective painting in the collection that highlights unique techniques of painting organic and geometric patterns.  

MFA Connections:

Jackson Pollock

Art-making activity:

Create Action Paintings inspired by Jackson Pollock drip paintings. Each student uses a box lid, black paper, neon paint and marbles to create two action paintings. Students use spoons to scoop the marbles out of paint cups and place on their paper in the box lids. They hold the boxes to move the marbles around on the paper.

Pre-tour group activity:

Read the book, "Action Jackson"

Follow-up activity:

Create another painting using only geometric shapes.
