Owned by George G. Snow (1843-1904), a Brockton MA shoe manufacturer and philanthropist. It was inherited by his nephew and then consigned to auction (Skinner, Fine Jewelry, sale 2391, 12/1//07, Boston); Purchased by Yvonne Markowitz who gifted it to the MFA (Accession Date: January 23, 2008)
