Miniature Art and Huge Art

Goals:

(Overview & big concepts)

We will look at some artworks that are small in scale and others that are huge.  Why are they small or big?  How would they be different if they were the opposite?  Is bigger better in art?

Juno, Sofonisba Anguissola minature self portrait, Chuck Close, Ancient Egypt

Art-making activity:

Create a huge self portrait on oversize paper

Pre-tour group activity:

Blind partner drawings

Follow-up activity:

Create a tiny drawing when you get home
