This fragment is the proper left shoulder and part of the back of a one-third life-sized male figure. The stone is black granodiorite with sporadic black biotite inclusions and mica, the break areas look granulated. GD5.

Provenance

From Nubia (Sudan), Kerma, K II Upper Defuffa front 3. 1914: Excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan.
