Industrial Revolution: Nostalgia & Reality

This gallery will help students to see how the technological developments that occurred during the Industrial Revolution influenced American Art in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Students will analyze ways in which the Hudson River School and Ash Can School artists represented a longing for simpler times while acknowledging the progress that was being made in the areas of transportation, agriculture, and urbanization as a result of the IR through their works of art.
