How Objects Can Speak : The American Civil War

This gallery shows objects made before, during, and after the American Civil War. These objects aren't made of WORDS, but they can still SPEAK to us and TELL us things. They can tell us about what the Civil War was like; about how people felt about the Civil War at the time; about how people feel about it now; and about some of the ideas that are connected to the Civil War.

And we can READ these objects in a similar way to how we READ stories or poems. We look closely and carefully; we pay attention to details; we are curious and thoughtful; and we ask ourselves questions--and then try to answer them!
