Handled globular jar

Start collecting

This globular jar has a nearly symmetrical, ovoid body. The bottom expands to a flat, splayed foot. There is no neck, though a wide, folded rim gives the impression of a short one. A handle has been attached from the rim to just above the widest part of the jar.

From Kerma, Cemetery M, grave 5. 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan. (Accession date: July 7, 2006)
