In the 1890s, possibly included in an exhibition, Germany; during the 1890s, purportedly sold at German exhibition to a family of minor royalty, Bavaria. About 1998, acquired by a dealer, Dusseldorf, Germany; before 2001, sold by German dealer to a dealer, New York State; about 2001, sold by New York dealer to James Bollman, Arlington, Massachusetts; 2010, sold by Bollman to the MFA.
