GREEK STUDY/Visual Component

This gallery contains images and artifacts from Ancient Greece selected specifically to enhance a unit of social studies taught to first and second graders. There are also some art works from more modern times with classical references in them. Children will be asked to think about why the classics have lived on into modern day art and architecture. They will also attempt to use their prior knowledge to identify the gods, goddesses, monsters, heroes, and demigods shown in this gallery. They will be exposed to a variety of media including paintings, sculpture, red and black figure vases, tapestry, coins, jewelry, ceramics, furniture and architecture.
