Goya and the Spanish Cultural Tradition

Goya is just one of the many artistic giants that Spain has produced over the centuries.  This lesson places Goya side-by-side with some of the other Spanish masters from Velázquez to Picasso, in order to complete the narrative of the Spanish artistic tradition.  Each comparison is structure around a certain theme that also highlights some aspect of Spanish culture like courtly living to religious beliefs to native food and drink.  This lessons will allow students to be exposed to other Spanish artists besides Goya and dissect the themes and styles of the genre
