Face from a statue of a man

Start collecting

Fragment of face, including forehead, nose, mouth and part of proper right eye and cheek, finely carved. Remaining traces of black paint on hair, reddish brown on skin and back and white on eye. Probably part of same statue as 23-11-443.

Provenance

From Sheikh Farag, tomb 5201, debris. 1923: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
