MFA for Educators

Engage your students with the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to illustrate themes and concepts in any discipline.

An Experience Reinterpreted

Students will be guided around the Museum looking at the Japanese Sword Gallery, 17th Century Dutch and Flemish Gallery, European Silver Gallery, and the 19th Century European Gallery to explore the craftsmanship of earlier metal works. Students will make exact 1½ by 1½ inch square drawings of artwork that both "shouts" at them and "whispers" to them. They will use these drawings for their designs on the boxes to tell a story of their experience. This story does not need to be clear to the view it is more of a personal experience through looking and viewing art. The students will then make box of any shape with the biggest dimension 1½ inches.
