1916, Elia Volpi (b. 1858 - d. 1938), Florence; November 27, 1916, Volpi sale, American Art Galleries, New York, lot 914, to Miss Paul (?) [see note 1]. William Boyce Thompson (b. 1869 - d. 1930), Yonkers, New York (?). 1925, J. Templeman Coolidge, Boston; 1925, gift of J. Templeman Coolidge to the MFA. (Accession Date: February 5, 1925) NOTES: [1] That the name of the buyer at the 1916 sale was Miss Paul and that the fireguard was subsequently in the Thompson collection is according to Roberta Ferrazza, "Palazzo Davanzati e le collezioni di Elia Volpi" (Florence, 1994), p. 273.
