After 1851, Francis Egerton Ellesmere, 1st Earl of (?), Worsley Hall, Lancashire, England (d. 1857); 1857, by inheritance to George Granville Francis Egerton Ellesmere, 2nd Earl of (?), Worsley Hall, Lancashire, England (d. 1862); after his death, most probably by inheritance to Francis Charles Granville Egerton Ellesmere, 3rd Earl of (?), Worsley Hall, Lancashire, England (d. 1914); 1914, by inheritance to John Francis Granville Scrope Egerton Ellesmere, 4th Earl of (?), Worsley Hall, Lancashire, England (d. 1944); by inheritance to John Sutherland Egerton Ellesmere, 5th Earl of (?), Worsley Hall, Lancashire, England; June 18, 1976, sold at the Ellesmere sale, at Christie's, London (0118). Possibly with Colnaghi's, London and New York. January 21, 1982, sold by an anonymous owner at Sotheby's, New York (0028), and bought by the MFA. (Accession date: February 10, 1982)
