Covered Tureen

Start collecting

Four cartouche-shaped reserves around tureen decor with exotic birds and flowers, ajouré scroll handles. Cover with four similarly painted cartouches, double leaf scroll handle. Reserves bordered by embossed gilded work.


By 1937, with Symons Galleries, New York; February 6, 1937, sold by Symons Galleries to Forsyth Wickes, New York and Newport, RI (d. 1964); 1965, bequest of Wickes [see note 1]. (Accession date: December 24, 1965) NOTES: [1] A Tureen Stand in the MFA collection (Acc. No. 1997.20) may be original to this Covered Tureen.
