The pear-shaped jug is quatrefoil in section, with a shaped quatrefoil foot, which is decorated with two gold bands. The handle is harp-shaped and has gold edges and a leaf pattern running down the spine. The domed, quatrefoil cover has a gilt rim and lobed, gilt finial; it is pierced to allow for the escape of steam. The curved spout is gilt, with a scrolled gilt border where it joins the body. The body of the jug and the cover have a turquoise ground with two white, gold-framed quatrefoils reserved on each. These contain harbor scenes painted in puce monochrome. On the body of the jug, one reserve shows a conversing couple in the center foreground. The man stands, at left, gesturing with his left hand to the woman, who is seated, at right, on a log. To the right of the woman is a pollarded tree. Beyond the couple is a steep cliff with buildings and trees along its crest, and trees lining the shore of a lake below. In the other re-serve is a harbor scene framed on the left by a ruined building and on the right by a sailor who is trimming a large sail. Two men in Turkish dress stand in the center foreground. To their left are two barrels. Two men converse on the edge of the harbor, and there is a three-masted ship beyond. The opposite shore of the harbor is visible on the horizon. On the cover one scene shows a cliff with a ruined castle and a tree at the right, above a harbor; in the left foreground is a junk, and in the center on the shore stands a man. The second reserve on the cover depicts two figures walking along a rocky path, which ascends to the left; a large tree stands in the middle, and a row of trees is visible on the horizon.
