Circular dish

Start collecting

One of a pair of large, shaped circular dishes. The rim has a reed and ribbon band with a wide band of chased elongated oval guilloche pattern surrounded by matting.

Inscription

A large armorial is engraved in the center.

Marks

Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, JD, a shell (Dennis, 122). Warden's Mark: 1773-1773: a crowned I (Dennis, 132). Charge Mark: for large work, 1768-1775: a crowned A (Dennis, 132). Discharge Mark: for work intended for export, 1733(?)-1775: a little cow (Dennis, 125). Other: a small rectangle.

March, 1971, sold by S.J. Phillips, Ltd, London, to Mrs Harvey Firestone. Elizabeth Parke Firestone (b. 1897 - d. 1990) and Harvey S.
