Long and rectangular with domed hinged cover. Metal hasp; keyhole. Of gilt and polychromed wood with design (flowers and crowned eagle with wings outspread) in straw. Example of early Italian coffanetti. Unique in decoration of straw on pastiglia.

Provenance

By 1939, French and Company, New York; 1940, sold by French and Co. to the MFA for $400. (Accession Date: May 9, 1940)
