Square dish

One of a set of four shaped square dishes with molded rims and an engraved crest in the center. Engraved with FC and stamped with CV on the underside of therim.

Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, NCV, a pearl (incomplete) (Nocq, p. 82). Warden's Mark: a crowned R (Incomplete) probably the mark for 1757-1758 (Dennis, 36). Discharge Mark: for large work, 1756-1762: a woman's head (Incomplete) (Dennis, 36).


1930, purchased by Jacques Helft. 1938, Comtesse Niel, Paris. Elizabeth Parke Firestone (b. 1897 - d. 1990) and Harvey S. Firestone, Jr. (b. 1898 - d. 1973), Akron, OH and Newport, RI; 1993 [see note 3]; gift of the estate of Elizabeth Parke Firestone and Harvey S. Firestone, Jr., to the MFA.
