Polychromed wood. Bearded with flowing hair, deep set eyes looking slightly right, crouching on left foot and right knee, hands down (hole in right). Red cap, gray shirt, blue breeches, yellow high boots. From the church of Schaftlach.

The church of the Holy Cross, Schaftlach, Germany (?) [see note 1]. 1960, Phillipp B. Mayer, London; 1960, sold by Mayer to the MFA for £600. (Accession Date: September 21, 1960) NOTES: [1] According to the curatorial recommendation for purchase, this came from "the church of Schaftlach". Its provenance has not been verified.
