By 1891, Monbrison; May 8, 1891, Monbrison sale, Chevallier, Paris, lot 18, to Gallay and/or his son, Paris [see note 1]; by 1928, son of Gallay; 1928, sold by son of Gallay to Félix Landry, Paris; 1928, sold by Félix Landry to the MFA for $781,250 [see note 2]. (Accession Date: November 1, 1928) NOTES: [1] The painting may have been bought by Gallay and then inherited by his son. It is also possible that the painting was owned jointly by father and son, or that the son was the original purchaser of the painting. [2] Sold as the work of an unidentified, Franco-Flemish artist.
