Oval dish

One of a set of three shaped oval dishes with a shallow center depression and a molded rim. A mostly erased crest is engraved on one of the long sides.


Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, FTG (Maker's small mark (Dennis, 151). Wardens; mark: 1756-1757: a crowned q (Dennis, 152). Charge Mark: 1756-1762: a crowned A, incomplete (Dennis, 152). Other: a small oval with letters inside; a small rectangle, St. Petersburg mark: "Beschauzeichen etwa" 1761(?) (Rosenberg, 8143); two Cyrillic letters, a grain between, in a rectangle; a 9 in a rectangle; an 0 in a rectangle, both possibly Russian standard marks (Tardy, p. 265); Countermark, used after 1838: parts of insects (Rosenberg, 5929).
