Oval dish

One from a set of three shaped oval meat dishes. Large, with a shallow center depression and molded rims. One long side is engraved with a mostly erased crest, Christie's says that it is the Russian Imperial coat of arms.


Maker's Mark: none, same style and shape as that of Germain, and in a set withhis other work. Warden's mark: 1757-1758: a crowned R (Dennis, 36) Change mar k: 1756-1762: A crowned A (150). Other: a small oval with letters inside; a small rectangle; St. Petersburg marks: Beschauzeichen etwa" 176? Christies says that it is a three (Rosenberg 8142); Two cyrillic letters, a grain between, ina rectangle; a 9 in a rectangle; an 0 in a rectangle possibly both are Russia n Standard marks (Tardy, p.265).
