In carved frame with arch above. Joseph, Mary & animals under slight roof on which ride the three Wise men toward shepherd & sheep. In lunette, kneeling St. Jerome with lion and skull.
Probably Paola Visconti (d. after 1558) and Carlo da Rho (d. 1553), Milan [see note 1]. 1946, Mrs. John Templeman Coolidge, Boston; 1946, gift of Coolidge to the MFA. (Accession date: December 12, 1946) Notes:  On the reverse of the relief are the coats of arms of the Visconti and da Rho families suggesting ownership by Paola Visconti and Carlo da Rho. This is the only known union between the two families.
