Mustard pot

Goblet-shaped mustard pot, the foot with gadrooned edge and moldings. The body with cut card work against a textured ground, engraved scrolls and coat of arms. Scroll handle. The lid hinged with a thumbpiece, gadrooned border, 2 engraved scrollwork bands, sunflower finial.


Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lys, 2 grains, [N]CL, [an ear of wheat ?] (Dennis 208): Inside bottom of cup, inside of lid. Warden's Mark: 1714-1715, a crowned X (Dennis 100): Inside bottom fo cup. Charge Mark: 1712-17, an A on aninverted crown (Dennis 100): Inside bottom of cup. Discharge Mark: 1712-17, a cock with raised right claw (Dennis 359): Rim of foot. Other: Illegible mark [LHF?] on underside of foot. Unidentified mark: 3 crowns and a quatrefoil: rim of foot. Import mark ?: rim of foot. Engraved coat of arms. Engraved "324" on underside of foot.
