A miniature milk-jug. The body is baluster shaped with a molded band at the base of the detachable turned wood handle and a molded rim with a shallow spout. Hinged cover has an everted lip covering the spout, a volute humbpiece and a button finial.
Maker's Marks: incomplete, on cover: a crowned fleur-de-lis, a grain, R, a device; On base, a crowned fleur-de-lis, a grain, C, a device. Charge Mark: for large work, 1783-1789: a crowned A (Dennis, 9). Other: Guarantee mark used after 1838: a small boar's head (Tardy, p. 173); a shell. Maker's marks are on the base and the cover. The charge mark is on the base and the inside cover, the guarantee mark is on the rim of the cover, and the shell is on the rim of the body.
