The spoon, forged from a single piece has a long shallow bowl with a plain drop. The slightly tapering stem forms a second narrow bowl.

Inscription

ARMORIALS: engraved on underside of large bowl, the crest of Babcock INSCRIPTIONS: engraved below crest in monogram, "AMB".

Marks

On back of central section, sovereign's head; date letter B; leopard's head crowned; lion passant; maker's mark possibly W.

According to tradition, Adam Babcock of Boston (1740-1817); Gift of Miss Marian Lee Blake to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 19, 1930)
