Fitted case for pair of Caddies and Sugar Bowl

Plain oblong case on four scroll feet, with shaped escutcheon plate and scroll handle, the base plate engraved, in the nineteenth century, with the initial L and earl's coronet.


Made for Thomas, 5th Lord King and Baron of Ockham (1712-79); after his death, by descent within family until to Earl and Countess of Lovelace; June 8, 1995, sold by the Earl and Countess of Lovelace at Sotheby's, London, lot 111, where most probably bought by Alan and Simone Hartman, New York, NY; 2001, gift of Alan and Simone Hartman.
