Obverse: Inscribed at edge "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" and under bust "JC CHAPLAIN". Reverse: Inscribed at edge "EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE INTERNATIONALE DE 1878", on plaque "VERNER/& HALLE", below "CHAPLAIN", and in exergue "PARIS".
